Due to confirmed reports of the sighting of the Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) determined that in South Africa, Shabaan 1445 ended with 29 days, on Mon 11 March 2024. The 1st of Blessed Ramadan 1445 therefore corresponds to Tue 12 March 2024, in-sha-Allah.

 

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of Eid-ul-Fitr and the start of Shawwal 1445 shall be after sunset on Tuesday 09 April 2024. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 21 Hours 36 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
