Moonsighting: Start of Dhu al Hijjah 1441
Due to no confirmed reports of sighting of the #Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that in South Africa, Dhu al Qa’da 1441 ends with 30 days on Wednesday 22 July 2020. It follows then that 1st Dhu al Hijjah 1441 corresponds to Thursday 23 July 2020.
It follows then that Eid-ul-Adha 1441 shall be on Saturday 1st August 2020, in-sha-Allah.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.
In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month. The next sighting of the moon for the determining the start of Muharram 1442 shall be after sunset on Thursday 20 August 2020, in-sha-Allah.
