Following no confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa has determined that Safar 1446 will end with 30 days on Wednesday 4 September 2024.  Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Rabi al Awwal 1446, shall be on Thursday 5th September 2024, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Rabi al Thani 1446 Hijrī, the new year, shall be on Thursday 03 October 2024. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 21 Hours 19 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
