Following no confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Shawwal 1446 will end with 30 days on Tuesday 29 April 2025. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Dhu al Qa’da 1446, shall be on Wednesday 3oth April 2025, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Dhu al Hijjah 1446 Hijrī shall be on Wednesday 28 May 2025. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 36 Hours 22 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
