There were no reports of moon-sighting during the evening of Wednesday 29th January 2025. The United Ulama Council of South Africa has therefore determined that Rajab 1446 will end on Thursday 30th January 2025, with 30 days.  Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Sha’baan 1446 will be on Friday 31st January 2025.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Blessed Ramadan 1446 Hijrī, shall be on Friday 28 February 2025. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 15 Hours 54 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
