There was NO confirmed moon-sighting reports in the evening of Wednesday, 22 Mar 2023. As such, the month of Shabaan 1444, in South Africa, will end with 30 days, on Thursday, 23 Mar 2023.

Consequently, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) determined that in South Africa, the 1st of Blessed Ramadan 1444, corresponds to Friday 24 Mar 2022.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.

In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Shawwal 1444 and Eid-ul-Fitr shall be after sunset on Friday, 21st Apr 2023, in-sha-Allah.
