Following confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Dhu al Qa’da 1446 has ended with 29 days this evening of Wednesday 28 May 2025. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Dhu al  Hijjah 1446 corresponds to Thursday 29th May 2025, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Muharram 1447, and the new Hijrī year, shall be on Thursday 26 June 2025. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 28 Hours 54 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
