Following confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Safar 1447 ended with 29 days this evening of Sunday 24 August 2025. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of the Rabi ‘al Awwal 1447 corresponds to Monday 25th August 2025, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Rabi ‘al Thani 1447,  shall be on Monday 22 September 2025. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 20 Hours 09 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
