UUCSA Message | … Amidst the Rubble and the Ruins

A Message to our Brethren …  Amidst the Rubble and the Ruins

Amidst the rubble and ruins lies the broken dreams; aspirations and hopes of millions of people… amidst the rubble and ruins lies the ashes of ‘Ubuntu’ consumed by the inferno of greed and guile… Amidst the rubble and ruins lies the shattered confidence and trust in the government’s ability to govern, to uphold the rule of law, to protect and to provide…

As we commemorate the life struggles of Nabi Ibrahim Alayhis Salaam amidst the rubble and ruins, we see the resilience of a people following his Sunnah of perseverance. The blazing inferno and the intensity of the heat, will insha-Allah subside and the unseen Help of Allah will come as it came to Nabi Ibrahim Alayhis Salaam, if we respond with faith and trust in the Mercy of our Creator.

We express our deepest sympathies to those who have suffered incalculable losses; those who suffer the distress of uncertainty and insecurity amidst the advances of brazenly ruthless mobs. Your hurt, anxiety and fear are not in vain. Your suffering is not without purpose. Allah Ta’aala says:

”And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do notknow.” (Al Baqarah 2:216)

We call upon the Muslim community to stand united; help and assist each other and become embodiments of mercy, compassion and generosity. We call upon our brethren to abstain from any form of aggression or oppression whilst we protect our families and properties. It is also equally important not to reduce the crises into a racial conflict by generalising and by making sweeping statements that smack of racism. We are a universal Ummah made up of brothers and sisters across the racial divide.

We call on all Muslims; male and female to turn to Allah Ta’aala and seek His assistance by engaging in Salaah, fasting, giving charity and fervently engaging in the remembrance of Allah Ta’aala.

“If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allah {Alone) let believers put their trust.” (Al ‘Imran 3: 160)

May Allah Ta’aala protect us, safeguard our dignity and guard our property. May He shower us with His mercy and transform our condition of fear and anxiety into safety, security, peace and prosperity.
