Start of Dhu al Hijjah 1442
Due to no confirmed reports of sighting of the #Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that in South Africa, Dhu al Qa’da 1442 ends with 30 days on Sunday 11 July 2020. It follows then that 1st Dhu al Hijjah 1442 corresponds to Monday 12 July 2021.
Consequently, Eid-ul-Adha 1442 shall be on Wednesday 21st July 2021, in-sha-Allah.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.
In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month. The next sighting of the moon for the determining the start of Muharram 1443 shall be after sunset on Monday 09 August 2021, in-sha-Allah.
