Sheikh Abdi-Rashid ibn Sheikh Ali Sufi Pays a Courtesy Call at Baitul Hamd

Sheikh Abdi-Rashid ibn Sheikh Ali Sufi, a world-renowned Qari and Qatari-based imam paid a courtesy call at the Baitul Hamd, the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s head offices, in Johannesburg, on Monday 17 December 2018.

 

Sheikh Abdi-Rashid is being hosted by Majlis al Bayaan Islamic Council, the Somali-based ulama formation in South Africa. The Sheikh has had a number of engagements since his arrival on a tour that has taken him to other cities namely Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.

 

According to Quran Central, an online portal for tilaawah, apart from his native Somalia, Sheikh Abdi-Rashid has taught in Egypt and in Qatar where he was nominated imam and preacher of the Anas Ibn Malik’s Mosque in Doha.

 

In his life-long service to the Qur’an, Sheikh Abdi-Rashid has built many schools and established many institutes for the teaching and learning the Holy Qur’an.

 

While at Baitul Hamd, the Sheikh met JUSA’s secretary general, Moulana Ebrahim Bham along with other officials with whom there was a brief exchange of experiences. The Sheikh graced the meeting with his beautiful rendering of the Qur’an from Surah Maryam.
