Following no confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Muharram 1447 will end with 30 days on Saturday 26 July 2025. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Safar 1447, shall be on Sunday 27th July 2025, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Rabi al Awwal 1447 Hijrī shall be on Sunday 24 August 2025. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 33 Hours 44 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
