Moonsighting Results | The Start of Dhu al Qa’dah 1147 (Updated)
KINDLY NOTE: The United Ulama Council of South Africa received a late report of moon-sighting which they have now reviewed & henceforth accepted and hereby announce that Dhu al Qa’dah 1447 corresponds to Sunday 19 April 2026. Assalaamu ‘Alaikum
Following no confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Shawwal 1447 ends with 30 days on Sunday 19th April 2026. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Dhu al Qa’dah 1447 corresponds to Monday 20th April 2026, in-sha-Allah.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Dhu al Hijjah 1447, shall be on Monday 18th May 2026. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 43 Hours 27 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
