Due to no confirmed reports of sighting of the #Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA), determined that in South Africa, Shawwal 1444 will end with 30 days on Sunday 21 May 2023. It follows then that 1st Dhu al Qa’da 1444 corresponds to Monday, 22 May 2023.

 

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Dhu al Hijjah 1444 shall be after sunset on Monday 19 Jun 2023. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 34 Hours 46 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
