Due to confirmed reports of widespread sighting of the #Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA), determined that in South Africa, Blessed Ramadan 1444 ended with 29 days on Friday evening, 21 April 2023. It follows then that 1st Shawwal 1444 which is also the day of Eid-ul-Fitr corresponds to Saturday, 22 April 2023.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa wishes Muslims world over a Blessed Eid. May the Almighty accept the fasts of Ramadan, our humble acts of worship and devotion. Aameen.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Dhu al Qa;da 1444 shall be after sunset on Saturday 20 May 2023. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 23 Hours 33 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
