The sighting of the crescent for the start of the Hijri month of Shawwal 1445 which is also for the determination of the day of Eid-ul-Fitr shall be after sunset. on Tuesday 09 April 2024.

If the crescent is sighted, in South Africa, Eid-ul-Fitr shall be observed on Wednesday 10 April 2024. Otherwise, Blessed Ramadan will last 30 days, with the Eid day falling on Thursday, 11 April 2024.

UUCSA will announce the official results of moon-sighting after confirmation procedures have been completed during Tuesday evening, in-sha-Allah.
