Due to no confirmed reports of sighting of the Hilaal, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA), determined that in South Africa, Safar 1445 ends with 30 days on Saturday 16 Sep 2023. It follows then that 1st Rabi al Awwal 1445 corresponds to Sunday, 17 Sep 2023.

 

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Rabi al Aakhir 1445 shall be after sunset on Sunday 15 Oct 2023. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 22 Hours 18 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
