Groans of Agony from Gaza Echo in Minab-Iran

AN UUCSA  PRESS STATEMENT

The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) unequivocally condemns the recent military actions carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran. These attacks, conducted without lawful justification— a treacherous repeat of the use of force at a time when diplomatic negotiations were underway— represent a troubling continuation of a pattern where might overrides right, in total disregard of international law and the sovereignty of nations.

The attacks have been characterised by high level assassinations of the Iranian leadership. We express deep concern over the destabilising impact such actions have on the broader region of Western Asia, a region already scarred by untold suffering and conflicts sustained by hegemonic elements that seek to dominate through occupation and dispossession.

The Gaza Genocide has shown us the devastating human cost of extreme violence and the urgent need for justice and accountability. It is ironic that among the victims of the first round of the Israel-US aggression against Iran, are at least 165 girls of an elementary school, massacred in Minab-Iran, at the hands of self-designated liberators of “oppressed” Muslims in general, and women in particular.

UUCSA stands in solidarity with all innocent civilians affected by conflict and urge the global community to reject violence and embrace justice and dialogue, as the path forward for lasting peace in Western Asia.

We call upon all parties involved to respect the sovereignty of nations, uphold international law, and work earnestly toward justice and peaceful resolutions that prioritise the welfare and security of all peoples of the region.

It is a time to reflect on the entrenchment of lawlessness that has seen gross violations of international humanitarian laws, in total disregard for the UN Charter, international norms and conventions. What started off in Gaza has continued with unprovoked attacks in Lebanon and Syria. The illegal abduction of President Nicolás Maduro, from Venezuela, is a continuation of this conduct, as the war criminals get emboldened by impunity. Yet, the Greenland fiasco has shown, when hegemonic unilateralism prevails in the name of the advancement of “national interest”, even countries that consider themselves allies of the aggressors will not be spared.

Meanwhile, multiple casualties have been reported in Pakistan and elsewhere, where confrontations between security officers and crowds protesting the attacks on Iran, have given a glimpse into the volatility of the situation, where stakes are high for the Muslim world. At this critical moment, the Ummah must articulate a moral response grounded in faith and sober judgment, avoiding both triumphalism and unthinking outrage.

We ask Allah to protect the Ummah, to guide its leaders toward wisdom, and to restore justice in a world where might is increasingly mistaken for right.
