Day of Solidarity for Gaza | Sat 3rd August 2024

A FRIDAY JUMUAH MESSAGE

(UUCSA requests Imams, Khateebs and/or Speakers, to read out this message to their respective Friday Jumuah congregations, today)

Assalāmu ‘Alaikum

Prior to his martyrdom, Shaheed Shaykh Ismail Haniyeh (Rahmat-ul-Allah alayhi), urged the Ummah to remember the suffering of Palestinian prisoners who are languishing in prisons and who are subject to unimaginable torture by observing this Saturday, the 3rd of August 2024, as a day of solidarity for Gaza, Palestine, and Masjidul Aqsa al Mubārak.

The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) accordingly calls on the Ummah, worldwide, to dedicate this Saturday as a day of activism in support of the people of Gaza and Palestine. To this end, we appeal to you to:

1. Engage in salāh, tilāwah, dhikr and du‘ā in order to attract the mercy, help and assistance of Allah.

2. Refrain from any act that may incur the displeasure or the wrath of Allah.

3. Continue boycotting those who support the genocide.

4. Lobby governments and policymakers to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

5. Provide financial and humanitarian aid to those suffering in Gaza and Palestine.

6. Learn, educate and conscientise our children in our homes, schools and madāris, about the importance of the Blessed Land of Palestine and its continuing illegal occupation.

7 Turn to scholars for guidance on global political matters instead of the biased mainstream media.

8. Avoid spreading baseless and speculative opinions.

9. Recognise that the cause of Palestine is a global responsibility for the Ummah and not only the responsibility of the Palestinians.

May Allah emancipate the Occupied Palestinian Lands and send down His mercy, and help to the Ummah.
