Sri Lanka: JUSA Expresses Shock and Condemns Terror Attacks in Colombo

PRESS STATEMENT
(For Immediate Release)

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa expresses shock and condemnation at the mass murder of Christian congregants and guests in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.

The carnage has claimed the lives of 207 with 450 others injured following a series of explosions in Colombo.

We extend our condolence to the families of those killed in the attacks and to the people of Sri Lanka in general. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The blatant aggression against innocent civilians displays a total disregard for the sanctity of human life, let alone compromising the sanctity of places of worship. The coordinated attacks were intended to inflict large scale carnage and mayhem.

In this time of sorrow and pain we appeal to communities of Colombo to reach out to each other, in a spirit of goodwill and solidarity against the agents of such terror.
