Moonsighting Results | Start of Dhu al Hijjah 1447 & Eid-ul-Adha

Following no confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Dhu al Qa’dah 1447 ends with 30 days on Monday 18th May 2026. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Dhu al Hijjah 1447, corresponds to Tuesday 19th May 2026, in-sha-Allah.
It follows then that in South Africa, Eid-ul-Adha, the 10th of Dhu al Hijjah will be on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Muharram 1447, shall be on Tuesday 16th June 2026. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilaal will be 36 Hours 29 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
