Following confirmed reports of moon-sighting, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that Sha‘baan 1447 has ended with 29 days on Wednesday 18th February 2026. Consequently, in South Africa, the 1st day of Blessed Ramadan 1447 corresponds to Thursday 19th February 2026, in-sha-Allah.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. The next sighting of the moon for the determination of the start of Shawwal 1447 and Eid-ul-Fitr, shall be on Thursday 19th March 2026. At sunset in Johannesburg, the Hilâl will be 14 Hours 56 Minutes, in-sha-Allah.
