The crescent of the next month of Dhu al Qa’da 1440 will be sought in the evening of Wednesday 03 July 2019. In Johannesburg, at sunset, the hilaal will be 20 hours 11 minutes.

In case of a confirmed sighting, 1st Dhu al Qa’da 1440 shall be on Thursday 04 July 2019. Otherwise, Shawwal 1440 shall last 30 days with 1st Dhu al Qa’da 1440, to fall on 05 July 2019.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.

In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the next month’s crescent as well as every new crescent.
